Morning in Paris Enjoy a free morning for your own explorations of Paris. You might wish to visit Monet's Waterlilies at the Musee d'Orangerie in the Tuileries Gardens, the Picasso Museum, or the futuristic exhibits of the Pompidou Center. Other possibilities are a visit to the Opera-Garnier, the Paris Opera House named for its architect, Charles Garnier. Visit to
Montmartre This afternoon you'll visit la Butte Montmartre in the 18th arrondissement. In its day, the area housed the likes of Zola, Berlioz, Seurat, Degas and Van Gogh. Picasso, Bracque and Juan Gris are said to have invented Cubism in an old piano factory in place Emile-Goudeau. There you can view the Moulin de la Galette - the last survivor of Montmartre's fort-odd windmills, immortalized by Renoir - and the Moulin Rouge, Toulouse-Lautec's inspiration. The large cathedral of the Sacre-Coeur makes up an essential part of the Paris skyline, you can opt to climb its tower and see the breathtaking view of the city from above.
